We were notified at 4:17 PM today that Typeform, the external data collection tool we use, suffered a data breach on June 27th. Attackers managed to gain access to a partial data backup for surveys conducted before May 3rd 2018. Those backups contained the responses to surveys we've collected from our customers.
Typeform was able to give us a list of all the forms and results that were affected and based on our investigation, we've determined that the email addresses, names, and employers of about 90 people were breached.
If you've been affected, you'll get an email from us soon.
We'll be contacting anyone we think may be affected and letting them know what information might have been compromised. However, we recommend everyone watch out for potential phishing scams, or spam emails.
Corrective actions and future work
Typeform is investigating the breach and is committed to improving their system security. However, we will carefully consider our partnership with Typeform and only continue to use their services once they demonstrate that their security has been improved.
We will also remove all responses or survey data from external providers within a month of conducting the survey.
We apologize sincerely to everyone affected. We'll keep you up-to-date with any additional information we receive from Typeform.
DevResults will continue to do everything we can to protect your data and the data of your partners. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
